Louise Haston put TV and radio presenters David Farrell and Jennie
Cook through their pedal paces yesterday ahead of freshnlo Pedal
for Scotland next Sunday.
With just over a week to go, Louise was on hand to give David,
host of the STV Riverside Show and Jennie Cook who co-hosts Capital
Breakfast show some last minute medal winning tips.
Both David and Jennie will take on the 47 mile Challenge Ride,
whilst Louise will tackle the 110 mile Sportive. We hope you'll all
be there cheering them on!
Crombie Primary Pupils Gear up for freshnlo Pedal for Scotland
Primary 6 pupils from Crombie Primary, Westhill saddled up and
headed to Hazelhead Forest today (27 August) for a day of mountain
biking with Adventure Aberdeen ahead of freshnlo Pedal for
Scotland Aberdeen Family Ride.
Mrs Maguire's P6 class won the trip as part of the Give Me Cycle
Space campaign in June. Give Me Cycle Space is a national
campaign aimed at encouraging children to cycle to school. The
class won the cycle to school competition which runs alongside the
campaign with an impressive 92% of pupils cycling to school in one
Crombie Primary also received Cycling Scotland's Cycle Friendly
School Award in 2012 in recongnition of the commitment they have
already shown towards encouraging their pupils to cycle to school.
The school also delivers Bikeability Scotland training to pupils to
help give provide them with the skills and confidence to cycle
safely on today's roads. This is ideal preparation for those
participating in this year's freshnlo Pedal for Scotland Aberdeen
ride on 14 September which features a 5 mile traffic free loop
starting and finishing from Duthie Park.
Mrs Maguire from Crombie Primary said: "I am thrilled that we
won the Adventure Cycling Day as a reward for completing the most
cycle journeys to school during the Give Me Cycle Space campaign.
We encourage cycling to school to keep the children active and
independent. The pupils are looking forward to putting their
cycling skills to the test at freshnlo Pedal for Scotland and can't
wait to see the stunt show and other exciting things on offer."
Ewan Wallace, head of Transportation at Aberdeenshire Council
said: "It's been a fantastic opportunity for Aberdeenshire Council
to be involved in this important national road safety
campaign. Aberdeenshire council are committed to improving
safety for pupils travelling to and from school as well as
providing opportunities to increase the number of trips made by
bike. Well done to Crombie Primary School who have clearly
shown a keen interest in encourage more active travel."

pupils to cycle to school as well as taking part in cycling as a

All new family friendly Edinburgh Circular Ride announced on 7
In addition to the staple 110 mile, 47 mile and 9 mile rides, we

mile family friendly ride for riders of all ages and abilities,
starting at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

Aberdeen Ride announced! freshnlo Pedal for Scotland will
return to Aberdeen for a FREE family friendly ride on 14
STV presenters Tyrone Smith and Laura Goodwin put in some pedal
practise today with local children Max and Libby Forsyth ahead of
taking part in freshnlo Pedal for Scotland Aberdeen Ride.
This year the family ride, which is FREE to enter, will be held
at Duthie Park and will cover a five mile traffic-free loop,
perfect for cyclists of all ages and abilities. There will also be
an exciting event expo at the finish featuring a cycle stunt show,
skills track, Nestrans GetAbout bike roadshow and more.
freshnlo Pedal for Scotland returns to Aberdeen on Sunday 14
September after great success at the initial event in 2013 which
saw over 300 families sign up to cycle together along the Beach

Scotland's very own premier street trials rider Danny MacAskill
was performing his trademark flips and tricks outside the STV
studios in Glasgow today (8th July), showing off his skills to
local children to officially launch the 2014 freshnlo Pedal for
Scotland Glasgow Ride.
The freshnlo Pedal for Scotland Glasgow Ride, in partnership
with Decathlon, includes a four mile family friendly cycle ride
followed by an action packed show at the Velodrome with Danny
MacAskill's Drop and Roll show.
