The Edinburgh Family ride provides a fantastic (almost completely traffic-free) route from Kirkliston Leisure Centre to our main event finish at Murrrayfield Stadium. Enjoy the experience of crossing the finish line inside Murrayfield Stadium with the rest of the freshnlo Pedal for Scotland Challenge and Sportive riders. All riders to arrive at Murrayfield Stadium for the event transport between 07:30 - 08:15. Transport will depart from Murrayfield Stadium between 08:00 - 08:30

freshnlo Pedal for Scotland will provide you with all the additional information you need to complete the ride, but please make sure you read in conjunction with the main rider brochure which you will find in your riders pack.

Challenge Ride

The classic freshnlo Pedal for Scotland ride, the challenge ride is now in its 15th year. The 47 mile Glasgow to Edinburgh ride is Scotland's biggest bike ride and attracted 8000 participants last year.

The reason for the ride's huge popularity is the combination of a great route that uses a mixture of closed roads, quiet back roads and cycle paths and the fact that it takes in Scotland's two largest cities via stunning countryside. It's the perfect challenge for both regular cyclists and those who haven't cycled in a while - a few weeks training is enough to get in shape.

There are rest stops around every ten miles serving free refreshments, plus a free lunch at the beautiful Linlithgow Palace, topped of with entertainment and activities in Edinburgh, making for the perfect active day out for groups of friends, family or work mates. Transport can also be booked to get you and your bike to the start at Glasgow Green, or home from the finish line at Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh.

Sportive Ride

The freshnlo Pedal for Scotland Sportive is a ride of 110 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh. The route takes riders through the Southern Uplands and down into Edinburgh passing through 7 local authorities and incorporating the best sections of numerous Scottish cycle racing circuits, including the A77 10 Mile Time Trial, sections of the Moscow APR and the Strathaven Anderside Classic, incorporating steep climbs around Muirkirk and undulating stretches across wild moorland . The Sportive is a much more challenging ride for regular cyclists. Check out the route map in the side panel opposite.

The Sportive will use the same start and finish points as the challenge ride but will take a completely separate route to give riders a clear run to get the best time they can. The transport service will serve Sportive riders too, meaning there is an easy and hassle free way to get you and your bike to the start in Glasgow Green, or back home from Edinburgh at the finish.

If you're taking part with a team from work, have you considered the Corporate Challenge? We offer a Corporate Challenge option for workplace teams who want to make this amazing teambuilding experience extra special by adding in some additional luxuries to make ride even more enjoyable.

There are two options.

Corporate Challenge -

£45 per person

(Minimum of 5 per team)

The popular Corporate Challenge option gives riders (teams of 5 or more) dedicated mechanical support, priority at feed stations, branding for the company, hospitality at the finish and more.

Corporate Challenge Delux -

£100 per person

(Minimum of 10 per team)

The Corporate Challenge Plus option allows teams (between ten and twelve) to take a table in the hospitality boxes at Murrayfield for a sit-down meal provided by Murrayfield Experience, giving riders the chance to relax in the comfort of the hospitality suites for a 2 course meal, glass of wine and a guided tour of the iconic stadium.

Teams who take part receive:

VIP Hospitality at Murrayfield stadium in private corporate boxes overlooking the finish line with 2 course sit down meal, glass of wine and tour of the stadium

Exclusive bike safety checks for your bikes at the start courtesy of Decathlon
